The Power to Change part 2
| As I learned more about EFT I came to see that, more often than not, the source of our problems is in our mind. As I watched people with
very serious physical illnesses, phobias, substance sensitivities and so forth experience dramatic improvement after EFT treatments, it became
clearer and clearer that to change your life...you must first change your mind. To date, I have pretty much eliminated my social anxiety disorder and I know
I wouldn't have gotten there without EFT. |
I Discover Metaphysics and Spirituality |
It was now 2006 and I was applying EFT to many of my social anxiety issues and seeing very good results. I also "accidentally" (of course there are no accidents)came across some metaphysical books and I began reading them. The first was Ask & It Is Given
by Jerry and Esther Hicks.
At that point my understanding of these ideas was pretty limited so I didn't grasp many of the concepts but I was fascinated by the ideas being conveyed and I wanted to learn as much as I could. So I
spent more and more time in the New Age section of the bookstore. It wasn't long before I noticed a book that filled me with apprehension but ultimately lead me down the path to a freer mind. That book was What God Wants : A Compelling Answer to Humanity's Biggest Question
by Neale Donald Walsch. Here I was looking at a book that was going to tell me what God wants from me and I just knew it was going to be something too lofty to even attempt. I was coming face to face with
a lifetime of beliefs, feelings of guilt and powerlessness handed to me by well-meaning family members and I wasn't really sure I wanted to know what God wanted but I bought the book anyway. If you
haven't read the book, I won't tell you what it says but I will say that the answer given within started me on the path to considering new ideas and possibilities (the foundation for the Living Metaphysically radio show). |
Reiki |
I was lead in a new direction around mid 2006. I happened to hear two friends discussing some pain they were having and one of them said, "I need some Reiki". I thought, "What is that?" So when I got
home I went straight to Google and clumsily typed in "Raykey". Luckily Google has a spell check and asked, "Did you mean 'Reiki'?" I thought, "Sure" and clicked on the new search term. I was presented with
a slew of pages talking about Reiki but the one that impressed me most was Reiki.org I read about this amazing energy healing method and I knew I had
to learn it. |
I took Reiki 1 in June of 2006 and knew right away that I wanted to do as much as I could with this modality. I was able to successfully treat pain in many situations, including my sister's headaches.
I gained more confidence when I helped with an injury sustained by my cousin-in-law while
at the lake and a really strange accident my dad had when he shot an arrow at a target, the arrow missed and hit a brick wall which somehow redirected right back to him and hit him in the leg. I quickly
put an icepack on the wound and then gave it Reiki. Within a few minutes, the heat from my hands had the icepack feeling like it was room temperature and all the pain was gone from the arrow hit. The
next day, you could hardly tell anything had happened.
| By July of 2007 I had my Master/Teacher certification and now teach Reiki online at
Online Reiki Course |
The Power of Brain Waves |
May of 2007 brought a new understanding to me. I attended a Theta Healing class and learned about the power of the various levels of consciousness or brain frequencies. In our waking state,
we function in the Beta brain frequency (between 13 and 40 cycles per second). When we close our eyes and relax, we drop into an Alpha state (between 7 and 12 cycles per second). As we drift off to sleep
we enter the Theta frequency (between 4 and 7 cycles per second) and when we reach deep, REM sleep, we are in Delta (0-4 cycles per second). What I found out is that changes in the brain take place far
more easily and quickly when we enter these lower frequency ranges and the Theta class teaches how to enter a Theta state very quickly and very easily where all sorts of very amazing changes can be made.
But not everyone can affort to take Theta classes so I wanted to find a way that everyone could use. What I came across was brain entrainment technology. Brain entrainment uses the method of producing
a sound in 1 ear of a certain frequency and a different sound in the other ear of another frequency. The mathmatical difference between the two creates a third frequency that your brain entrains itself to
and matches. So, for example, if you produce a frequency of 100 Hz in your right ear and 93 Hz in your left ear, the difference between them is 7 Hz, which is in the Theta range. Your brain receives this
7 Hz frequency and matches it, putting your brain into a Theta state. This process has been demonstrated time and again through MRI studies. |
| I was excited about this discovery but had no idea how to produce this effect. With some research, I found a program that can create this differential effect and began using it with my family
members and friends with great result. By enabling them to enter these lower brain frequencies at will, they were able to reduce pain, change limiting thoughts, enter a state of deep relaxation and more. |
| I quickly realized that combining brain entrainment technology with guided imagery would be a powerful technique and I had the chance to test this approach in November of 2007 when my mom had
knee replacement surgery. During the operation, my dad, uncle, aunt and I all sent Reiki to her and the results were very good. The doctors were amazed by the fact that she had no bruising and very
little swelling from such a major operation. She started physical therapy a few weeks after the surgery and it proved to be very painful. |
| One evening, we were doing the therapy exercises at home and we noticed that she had a lot of difficulty bending her knee very far. The ultimate goal was 90 degrees and she was getting somewhere
around 75. So I tried the guided imagery/brain entrainment method with her. After getting her very relaxed through the entrainment process, I had her visualize that her knee was perfectly healed and normal.
To see herself able to move it freely and without pain. After a few minutes of this, we had her to try to bend her knee again and this time there was no pain and she reached closer to 87 degrees flexion.
We were all so impressed by these results that I began accompanying her to the physical therapy sessions at the hospital and using guided imagery there. |
